Workplace by Facebook Powers Instant Communication Delivering Yoma Bank, Telenor, and Ooredoo Employees Seamless Internal Communication Within Their Own Companies

Yangon, Myanmar – May 3, 2019 – Yoma Bank, Telenor Myanmar, and Ooredoo Myanmar led Workplace TransformX Myanmar event advocating workplace inclusivity and productivity. The three believe that a workplace should promote openness, welcome feedback, and drive inclusivity. And as such, they adopted Workplace by Facebook to transform their internal communication. The key purpose of the Workplace TransformX Myanmar event was to share their internal communication transformation journey and best practices as industry and community leaders.

Yoma Bank was an early adopter of Workplace by Facebook and the first bank in Asia to beta test the platform which was then called “Facebook at Work” in late 2015. A successful roll out and branch wide adoption took place in 2016. Currently, over 3,000 Yoma Bank employees are actively using Workplace and WorkChat tools for their daily communications. Yoma Bank utilizes Workplace for internal communication, training, coaching, internal brand engagement, and collaboration. Yoma Bank’s Senior Management team and staff embrace transparency and regularly share information and interact with each other on day to day basis.

“Workplace has been Yoma Bank’s primary communications tool to drive the Bank’s transformation. We have benefitted enormously from the communications ecosystem that Workplace and WorkChat provide to enable our people to share information as well as communicate bilaterally and in groups. The platform provides visibility for all of our people on our BAU as well as change initiatives,” said Hal Bosher, CEO Yoma Bank.

Ooredoo Myanmar implemented Workplace digital platform in December 2017 with aims to communicate directly and efficiently with their employees and it became a key instrument to forge and strengthen engagement, information sharing, communication, collaboration and workflow. To date, over 920 people have claimed their accounts and which is 99% rate for Ooredoo Myanmar.

Mr. Alok Verma, Acting CEO of Ooredoo Myanmar said, “One of Ooredoo’s core values is connecting and enriching people’s digital lives. In line with that vision, for our own teams, we launched Workplace by Facebook in December 2017 and more than two third of our employees joined within 3 days and 103 groups have been created since then. Workplace by Facebook connects our employees and improves engagement, information sharing, communication, collaboration and work flow with easy-to-use familiar features. We are now working even more efficiently together with this great tool.

Telenor Myanmar as part of Telenor Group, introduced Workplace to its employees in 2016 and now 25,000 employees worldwide with more than 800 from Telenor Myanmar are currently using Workplace daily as one internal platform for news and information, campaigns, live streaming events; such as global townhalls, department communication, knowledge sharing communities, projects and team discussions, and many more.

“Telenor’s vision is to connect people to what matters most. By connecting, we also acknowledge that communicating and empowering through digital technology to our employees is as important as to our customers. So we use many platforms for internal engagement and Workplace is found quite efficient as a platform to share information among employees across Telenor Group. We could also use this powerful tool to reduce email overload, to boost the transparency and collaboration internally, and enhance the agility of the company as a whole,” said Sharad Mehrotra, CEO of Telenor Myanmar.
